Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann

Last year over 400 Trad for Trocaire seisiuns took place across Ireland, Britain, the USA, and Australia with support from Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann. Trocaire is the Irish word for mercy/compassion. Trocaire helps communities and families to eradicate poverty and promote justice. This year their efforts continue. Recently, the Green Briar Restaurant and Pub in Brighton hosted a fundraiser for Trocaire. Boston Comhaltas musicians, Tara Lynch, Terry O’Shea, Tony Keegan, and I “raised the roof” proudly all in aid of a great cause. For more info on this wonderful organization visit www.trocaire.org

FRANK FORDE MEMORIAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP

            Established in memory of Frank Forde whose love of his native Ireland and its music was well known and respected by all who knew him. This scholarship has been established to further promote traditional Irish music, especially sean nos singing and accordion, amongst young musicians in the CCE Boston Music School.

            The Hanafin-Cooley Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann is grateful to the Forde family and Frank’s many friends whose generous donations have made this scholarship possible.
